Spanish mortgage activity and average mortgage loan capital rises for the ninth consecutive month. The number of Spanish residential mortgages constituted during the month of January rose by 6.1%, compared with the same month in 2018, to 19,390, according to provisional data by the Spanish notaries.

Property sales rose 7% in August, accompanied by a 6.8% rise in the number of purchases financed by a mortgage, new government data shows. There were a total of 28,755 new Spanish mortgages constituted during the month of August, representing a rise of 6.8% on the same month the year before.

Andalucia recorded the biggest growth in mortgage activity in August out of all of the Spanish regions, new data shows. Approved mortgage applications totaled 26,583 during the month of August, with 14 out of the 17 Spanish regions showing year-on-year increases, according to data published by the government’s central statistics unit.
